Auroras from OB Hill

Here is a short video of some auroras across the sky here in Mcmurdo station, Antarctica. This video was shot from OB-hill (observation hill) because it is definately the best place to be to catch auroras as well as a beautiful view of the town.

Wow, this is amazing. This is the kind of thing most of us can never see, and so I am so grateful that you were thoughtful enough to post this. All the best, Elliot

A beautiful sight...My husband was in the Navy and traveled to the Antartica on the trip after Admiral Byrd on a cargo ship..Operation Deep Freeze I and II...they took supplies to the scientist there...Good Post..We both enjoyed it very much...

One of the things I want to accomplish in my lifetime is to go to Antarctica at least once. Hopefully at some point in the future, it will become more accessible to us "average" citizens!

Another is to experience the auroroas. As Elliot Kennel said, thank you for being thoughtful enough to post this! This, as well as your photographs, are absolutely beautiful.

Wishing you well, Amy.

Like so many other people, I want to express my thanks for your blog and the awesome pictures! Antarctica has been one of my "wish I could be there" places for years!

Your post was very good. I feel the recent interest in Antartica to colonise it is not in the interest of the ice continent. Post like yours show the natural engimas that take place in such environments. Hope our humans do not disturb it.

I didn't think much of Antarctica besides the fact that its an ice desert. My mind has been changed

I thank you all for your comments and i will do my best to continue to post pictures and videos as they are captured on camera. For those of you dreaming to come down here to antarctica or wishing, dream and wish no more, like my high school T-shirts always said " do it now, tomorrow may be too late". Google, investigate but find the time to come down here. try looking at: polar services, antarctica, work in antarctica. What ever you do, visit this place. It's amazing, beautiful and a completely different experence than you've ever had. hope to see you all soon.

Your blog's now in my favourites and I"ll be here regularly to see how you're doing. Two things on my "do before I die" list are going to Antartica and the Arctic. Please don't stop blogging!
